Mutations give barbers a named variant and can boost their money effect. Identify the mutation separately from the barber’s rarity, then compare its bonus with the worker’s individual stats.

The six named mutations are Silver, Gold, Rainbow, Encrypted, Frozen and Stormy. MONEY labels give Silver ×2, Gold ×5, Frozen ×1.4 and Stormy ×1.8. Manual and automatic rolling can produce mutations; during Snow, the weather tooltip states a 7% Frozen chance per roll. Mutations do not replace a barber’s base rarity.

Mutation Types and Known Effects

Among the four mutations with explicit MONEY multipliers, Gold has the largest bonus, followed by Silver, Stormy and Frozen. This compares their mutation effects; the best worker also depends on the individual barber’s Speed, Pay and trait.

Recognize Rainbow by the RAINBOW prefix. Rainbow Fresh Felix also cycles through body colors. Encrypted is another named mutation included in the 2x Mutation Luck benefit.

Get Mutations Through Rolling

  1. Press Roll, or leave Auto Roll enabled once you have unlocked it. Automatic rolls can produce mutations while you move or browse menus.
  2. Wait for the final result and read the mutation prefix, such as SILVER, GOLD, FROZEN or STORMY, alongside the barber’s name.
  3. Read the MONEY label for the mutation’s money effect. Keep this separate from the rarity and the displayed 1 in odds.

A result’s 1 in value describes that particular barber result. For example, SILVER Rookie Ron’s displayed 1 in 190 is not a shared Silver mutation chance for every barber.

For Frozen, roll while Snow is active. The Snow tooltip states a 7% chance per roll for Frozen, with ×1.4 MONEY. Use the Snow and Frozen guide for the weather timer and full event steps.

Mutation, Rarity and Trait Are Different

A mutation changes the barber’s variant without replacing its base rarity:

  • GOLD Buzz Benny remains Common. Gold is its mutation, while Common is its rarity.
  • RAINBOW Fresh Felix remains Uncommon. Rainbow identifies its variant, while Uncommon identifies its rarity.

The Trait field is separate again. Rainbow Fresh Felix can have Trait: None despite being mutated. Read the mutation, rarity and trait independently when comparing barbers, and use the barber directory to look up individual variants and their condition-specific stats.

Mutation Luck and Worker Selection

2x Mutation Luck makes all mutations twice as likely, including Silver, Gold, Rainbow, Encrypted and weather mutations. Its benefit increases the chance of getting a mutation; it does not double the mutation’s MONEY effect. Gold’s ×5 MONEY label therefore does not become ×10 through this pass. Compare its benefits with other purchases in the game pass guide.

When choosing workers, open BARBERS and compare Speed, Pay and Trait, rather than equipping a barber just because it has a mutation. A Rainbow Fresh Felix with Trait: None, Speed ×1.22 and Pay ×12.24 had high Pay, yet a three-worker setup earned more after EQUIP BEST replaced it with Fade Phantom. Those are that Felix’s individual stats, not a universal Rainbow multiplier or speed penalty.

Favor the worker that improves your shop’s output. See the lineup guide for specific worker choices and replacement steps.
